September 2010
Now that Parliamentary Recess is over and autumn is undeniably in the air, we want to wish the Network a warm welcome back, update you on what we have been up to over summer and provide some details on what we have planned for the months ahead.
CEN Structure
Firstly, we have been working hard throughout the summer on formalising the organisation of CEN itself, with a new permanent Board, Management Committee and Advisory Board structure. If you would like to know more about how who we are and how we are now structured, please click on the above tabs to find out more.
Conservative Party Conference
As you would imagine, CEN is extremely excited about Conference this year, and proud to announce that we have joined forces with the Climate Clinic (http://www.climateclinic.org.uk/index.html) to co-host one key fringe event within the secure zone. The event will entail a lively panel discussion chaired by the Independent newspaper, entitled: "What are the real threats to Britain's energy security?", with panellists expected to include (among others) a senior Conservative Party spokesperson, John Sauven, Executive Director, Greenpeace UK and Dr Robert Gross of the UK Energy Research Centre.
In the spirit of coalitions and new beginnings, CEN is proud to be part of a fresh and constructive dialogue between centre right environmentalists and the broader NGO space, and encourages all its members with access to the secure zone to attend this event.
"What are the real threats to Britain's energy security?" Sunday October 3rd 12:30-14:00pm, ICC Hall 8B, conference secure zone, Birmingham
Autumn Events
Toward the beginning of November, CEN will host a waste and recycling panel event in Westminster. Sponsored by leading waste management company SITA UK, and in collaboration with waste consultancy experts Eunomia, the event will focus on promoting localism and creating efficiency savings through a rationalisation of waste management solutions. As well as launching Eunomia's latest report on cost efficient waste strategy, the evening will also feature a presentation by a pioneering local authority producing extraordinary recycling rates through educating and inspiring their community.
Further details to be provided soon, including Senior Government Spokesperson (tbc)
Other dates for the diary
