November 2010

Post Conference Round-Up

CEN were out and about in force at this year's Conservative Party Conference. It was our first, and we would like to warmly thank the organisations with whom we collaborated and all those who made us feel welcome.

CEN Director Paul Foote appeared on two panels: IPPR's 'the Green Consumer' sponsored by EON; and Places for People and Eaga's 'Retrofit Revolution' alongside, among others, E3G founder Tom Burk, Phil Gilbert, Head of Innovation at E.ON and Ben Webster, Environment Editor of the Times.

We were also proud to co-host the Climate Clinic 'Act for Climate Solutions' reception in the Castle Fine Arts Gallery. Paul spoke at the event alongside Loretta Minghella (Director of Christian Aid), Irene Ovonji-Odida (Chair of ActionAid International), DEFRA Secretary Caroline Spelman and DECC Minister Greg Barker.

Autumn Events Update

CEN hopes you will be able to join us at Economising Waste, an evening discussion and drinks reception in Westminster, kindly sponsored by leading waste management company SITA UK, and in collaboration with waste consultancy experts Eunomia. We are also grateful to Lord Henley, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for DEFRA, for agreeing to attend and share his thoughts.

What: The discussion topic will be 'Promoting localism and creating efficiency savings through a rationalisation of waste management solutions'. As well as launching Eunomia's latest report on cost efficient waste strategy, the evening will also feature a presentation by a pioneering local authority producing extraordinary recycling rates through educating and inspiring their community.

When: 6:30-8.30pm, 8th December 2010

Where: City Inn Westminster Hotel, 30 John Islip Street, London SW1P 4DD

Attendance is, as usual, on a first come first served basis. Our events so far have all been oversubscribed, so we would kindly ask you to rsvp early to events@cenetwork.org.uk.
